When your vote REALLY matters.

Yay, the elections are over! I wasn’t sad to see them end. I don’t mind the outcome, but as on the fence as I was, I really wouldn’t have minded either way.

Not that I don’t care, really, it just seems like my one little vote in an area that’s SO blue felt like another drop in the bucket. And I tend to be the opposite of the way my husband votes, he’s very conservative, I’m more liberal, so I always just feel like our votes cancel each others out.

There’s a point to all of this. There’s a vote right now that you can cast that’s only going to do good. It’s easy, it will only take you about ten seconds (I know, my attention span has been clocked at 19 seconds on a good day…).  It will help my friend Alysia earn a $25,000 grant for her non-profit SenseAbility Gym.

This gym is a big deal.  From SenseAbility.com, “Our mission is to provide a parent-led sensory gym, giving children with special needs a safe, fun, indoor area where they can play and accommodate their sensory needs. This will be the first of its kind in the metrowest area of Massachusetts.”

THREE of my kids would benefit from a gym like this (Casey has autism, Carter has sensory processing disorder and Abby has sensory issues that are normal in children with Down syndrome). There have been SO MANY days I wish I could take them somewhere that had the same equipment that the OT had- but that we could just go use without having to have made an appointment a month in advance. This gym would provide that.

Even if it’s not set up in your neck of the country, it could be a model of a gym that could one day be set up near you. If this one is successful, more people will see how incredibly necessary they are.

Please vote. After you vote, please share it on facebook. PLEASE! This gym will help children like mine. I know Alysia personally and can attest to the kind of person she is. She’s gotten me through IEP’s, laughed with me in the good times (she’s hilarious) and has been there for the tough. This business deserves it. Please help! You can vote once a day. I’ll keep reminding you.

Thanks,

Lexi
