Erin the Amazing (Hermione Danger) |
For my 30th birthday my husband surprised me with a trip to Seattle. He. Is. Awesome. With just a couple of days notice, Erin the Amazing organized and threw me a surprise party.
I should back up a little. Did I tell you that Erin and I were going to try out to be in the Roller Derby? Yeah, we were. But the practices were all on Sunday so we did hockey instead. We went to an exhibition, and it was every bit as awesome as I thought it would be. I still want to do it, but I’m no longer any good on skates.
There’s too many things to love about Roller Derbies. Getting out rage? Sure. Exercise? Awesome…but the best part? The NAMES. Erin was “Hermione Danger”. Mine was Lexi Q. Shunner. Erin had the whole sweet outfit picked out/bought for me. The sweet tutu belongs to her 6 year old daughter.
Then my good friends started showing up. They were all decked out, too.
My favorite group shot:
The party was a blast. By the time it ended, I had been up for 22 hours, and was crazy tired but felt SO loved. I was hoping that I’d get back to Washington and hate being there and realize that I hated everyone so that the thought of not moving back for another year wouldn’t be so bad.
The girls are jerks and didn’t provide such comfort.
I love each girl in these pictures so much. Any of them I feel like I could call and hang out with, had I still freaking lived in Washington. They’re all SO different, too. And so so great.
It was the best weekend, too. Erin stopped at nothing to make it all perfect for me. I ate until I wanted to die several times, we laughed, we talked, we ate some more. Erin really is the best. I’m SO glad she’s moving to VA here in a few weeks, but it also kills me a little that she won’t be back in Washington when we move back.
Congrats to Kayleigh (the girl second from the right in the bottom picture). She just had her TWINS this last weekend. The babies are doing great, she named them Brooklyn and Mandee (after the great Mandee Lott, who I love and miss too much) but could still use your prayers.
Jill (the other prego you see above) is due any time now, too. She has the cutest dang babies. I’m excited for ALL of them.
That is all.
This looks like a damn good time!!
happy birthday again! Looks like it was fun
Looks like a good time was had by all! Happy birthday, Lexi. I can hardly believe you're just turning 30, I guess because you have kids older than my oldest, I always assume you too are a few years ahead of me in life.
What a fantastic gift from you hubby and from your wonderful friends! So glad you had such a fun time.
I'm so glad you had fun. Constructing the right guest list of your friends was hard! Weekend of joy. That's what I'm calling it now. It was so joyful.
Your mom is joyful.
The thirties have made me feel old and decrepit. Welcome. The couch picture is so hideous that it's impossible not to love. I'm glad you came out even if it was a short trip.
I want to play Roller derby SO BAD! I found out they do them in an abandoned grocery store near my house. But Casey won't let me try it until I'm not pregnant. He's no fun.
